The Scandinavian Extension

This single story rear extension is all about identifying details. The use of new construction methods, modern injections into older buildings, is expressed through an exposed steel support, which is highlighted with a contrasting colour palette. The tall ceilings and vibrant roof lights really open up the space, creating an inviting living area. As with all good open-plan living areas, the client requested a utility room which also housed the downstairs toilet. This created usable spaces without compromising too much of the overall design.
