Nothing Stayed The Same
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
This project fully embraces the use of open plan living. We incorporated a single storey extension and the removal of a few internal walls to create a flowing space across the ground floor. This space is then taken one step further with an incredible, unique dual aspect fireplace, which further breaks down the barriers between spaces. Neat re-positioning of rooms and creating the entrance to the main bedroom via a ‘drawbridge’ stopped the use of a through-room on the first floor. The stripping back on the second floor unearthed some beautiful original brick detailing which has been used and celebrated by the client as a feature.
“Deciding on JPA to complete all of our Architectural drawings was an easy choice, having worked with them previously on another job.
Our choice of house was a major Victorian 3 story renovation with not one single thing being kept the same, all the way down to drainage.
We knew the project would be a large and complicated one, however, despite this we knew the rewards could be spectacular. From the outset, the vision that James and the team had was outstanding, creating spaces we didn’t even envisage. The way we turned 2 separate fireplaces into one dual aspect fireplace facing onto our lounge and kitchen diner is the key feature on the ground floor. On the first floor designing a bridge through to the master bedroom created an extra room, which was previously being used as a large walkway – the results are simply stunning.
JPA are innovative, professional and an utter pleasure to work with – so much so, we are already talking about the next project!
We cannot recommend them highly enough.”
