RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – EMSWORTH
This one-off house overlooking Emsworth harbour really takes the breath away.
Standing on the site of a once modest bungalow, the new house, wrapped in larch timber and brushed aluminium stands proud overlooking the water. The downstairs of the property is split into two halves. The left hand side houses the main living space, dining room and kitchen, with access to both the front and rear gardens at either end. The right, an office, circulation and utilitarian spaces, as well as access to the rear annex.
The central core of the building runs front to back, creating views to and from the gardens with the only interruption being a wrapping wooden staircase up to the first floor. The landing space has a void overlooking the entrance hall with circulation again to the left and right wings. The roof on this floor is completely vaulted throughout creating double height space in every room. Glazing is again situated at the front and rear of the landing with views of the harbour on offer.
Upstairs houses an informal lounge space to enjoy the views that being raised has to offer as well as 2 large double bedrooms. The master bedroom overlooks the water with a terrace that also connects to the living space. The annex serves as a garage on the ground floor with a staircase that arrives at a guest house, accessed from the main entrance hall.
