Brick & Crittall
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – SOUTHSEA
The primary objective of this project was to create an enlarged kitchen/dining/family space to the rear of the property. The whole of this grandure victorian house in the heart of Southsea undertook significant renovation.
One of the biggest challenges was to design within close proximity to the boundary on the southern side of the plot. As a design response, this side was lowered, creating opportunity for a roof light feature running the length of the new space.
Although the bulk of the extension compliments the original house, through the use of brickwork and crittall glazing, the interior has a more contemporary feel with a modern kitchen and lighting.
The garden provided it’s own challenge. A tiered approach was taken to allow for level access from the extension, whilst maintaining natural light entering into the basement.
