We are JPA

We are a multidisciplinary, young architectural practice with a range of specialists that can take your project from early concept design all the way through to the handing over of the approved drawings to an appointed contractor.

We have a vibrant, high energy feel about the practice and we are renowned for our excited approach to help guide you through your proposals. We always listen to you first and will always give our honest opinions to your ideas once your requirements and goals have been set out.

Jack of all, master of some..?

In our opinion a ‘jack of all trades’ approach to architecture is NOT the best approach for a free-flowing design process. We do agree that one point of contact for the client is essential but considering we have concept design/ detailed design/ planning advice and technical drawings to produce, we believe the inclusion of specialists can be utilised throughout the process to help make informed decisions along the way.

A little bit about

The Director

Following the completion of the Part 1 and Part 2 architecture courses at Portsmouth University, James worked with 2 architectural practices learning his trade. He then made a change to the development industry producing many masterplans as the principle designer and working alongside a mix of disciplines to produce various successful schemes. His realisation of the importance of having different specialists all working together in the industry was realised and this was when James set up his own company.

A little bit about

Our Team

JPA was formed in 2015 and in our team we have over 30 years experience in the industry. Due to the continuous workload, we have grown from a home business to our Southsea based office at the start of 2016. We are renowned for our fresh, vibrant approach to designing and we believe positivity breeds positivity.

Within our team we divide our design between a planning department and a technical department.  To ensure we do not create any problems for the technical team (for example drawings spaces smaller than required or drawings windows too large for kitchens,) at each stage, our drawings go through a design review involving each department to ensure our schemes work technically and are also deemed appropriate by our planning advisor.
